Originally from West Lafayette, Indiana, Sarah began her vocal studies with soprano Yoko Shimizaki-Kilburn at Ball State University. She completed a Bachelor of Music in Composition in 2006 and went on to receive her Master of Arts from Case Western in Early Music Performance Practice in spring 2008, where she studied with renowned baroque singer Ellen Hargis. During her tenure in Cleveland, she performed regularly with the Apollo’s Fire Singers and Apollo´s Fire Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Jeannette Sorrell, the Case Collegium and Baroque Orchestra and the Case Early Music Singers. She has also participated in professional training workshops in the US, Canada, Germany and Italy, such as the Boston Early Music Festival, Madison Early Music Festival, the Vancouver Baroque Vocal Programme and the Fondazione Italiana per la Musica Antica. In February 2008 she was awarded a coveted scholarship to work with acclaimed Dutch director Ton Koopman in New York, culminating in a performance at Carnegie Hall.

 

Since 2008 Sarah has made her home in Berlin, Germany, where she performs as a soloist for choir and oratorio projects and participates as an ensemble member in chamber music and early music concerts. She sang for several years with the Palestrina Ensemble and the Arcadia Renaissance Consort, and since 2014 she directs the “Titans Rising” concert series and ensemble for Early Music in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Musically Sarah has been influenced by her recent work with Alessandro Quarta, Lily Tuneh-Wigger, Deborah York and Ton Koopman.
